As many of you have probably noticed, and, are probably sick and tired of, I have moved the location of my blog around quite a bit. This is largely due to my growing familiarity with the internet, the importance of network building, and the developing my online presence. As I get more into it, I have begun to realize that I should have my own online domain, develop an online portfolio, and so on. I also wanted a place for the blog that I have been maintaining to be incorporated into that process. My first design of terrypbrock.com was pretty “blog heavy”, meaning that traffic was oriented towards the blog, not the academic portfolio. The second design was much more portfolio centered, but the theme didn’t allow for a portfolio and a blog to coexist well. It was too cluttered.
Then, as I began to learn more about what owning a domain actually means, I realized that I could have multiple websites under one domain. So, I was able to make the blog and the portfolio separate things, which is what I have done. So, welcome to the new, and final, location for my personal weblog, Dirt.
The content for the blog is no different then it has ever been. The hope is for it to act as a “real time” companion to the much more stagnant Academic Portfolio, telling the process of the final products which end up on the portfolio. In that regard, it should also stand alone as a separate blog about archaeology, higher education, teaching, and, baseball, as it always has been.
Please feel free to make comments, “like” posts, Retweet, share on Facebook, or do whatever you would like. The more conversation the better, as it makes me think that I’m actually saying things that have some substance, and are at least making you think a bit. Thanks for sticking with me through all these changes!!
