Every year, the MSU Sexual Assault Program holds an award banquet where they honor a department or program on campus that has been nominated as an advocate for sexual assault awareness. In 2010, they added an additional honor, creating the White Ribbon Award for a male campus advocate for sexual assault prevention. I was honored and humbled to have been selected as the recipient of the first award for my work with the Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Prevention Program.
The White Ribbon has become the symbol of Men who pledged to never commit violence against women, and to actively participate in eradicating gender violence throughout the world. It is the basis of the White Ribbon Campaign, a world-wide effort by men to end violence against women
