I consider public engagement to be one of the most important components of conducting historical archaeology. My particular interest is in the use of the digital world, in particular social media, as a means for engaging the public. During my time at Michigan State University, I have been part of the Engagement Graduate Certificate Program, and have built a number of social media programs for both archaeological and non-archaeogical departments on campus. I have also served as the editor for the Society for Historical Archaeology Blog. Most recently, I built and curated a digital exhibit at Historic St. Mary's City about my dissertation research, and blog regularly from the exhibit about our research methods.
