In 2011, I had the opportunity to chair the Society for Historical Archaeology's Social Media Technology Subcommittee. We were tasked with developing a social media action plan for the organization. I coordinated the initiative, titled SHA Social, and developed a comprehensive plan that incorporates Twitter, Facebook, and a new SHA Blog. We launched at the 2012 conference in January in Baltimore, Maryland. Since, I have served in an editorial capacity, posting historical archaeology news and information on Facebook and Twitter, editing blog posts from a number of committees, and soliciting posts from SHA members for the monthly Current Topics feature.
